Job Opening: Cook – Long Term Care Facility
Location: Brookestone Acres
Position Type: Culinary Specialist
Shift Hours: 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Schedule: 2-3 Weekdays (M-F), every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) & every other holiday required (New Years Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas).
Located in Columbus, Nebraska, Brookestone Acres is designed for seniors needing either short-term rehabilitation or skilled nursing services. At Brookestone Acres, we have a culture of rehabilitation and overall improvement of health. Our residents and patients are served by team members trained to meet the unique and specialized needs of each individual. Our team is dedicated to encouraging and motivating our patients to excel in therapy and regain daily life skills.
We are seeking a dependable and enthusiastic Cook to join our Culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for preparing wholesome meals and a heart for serving seniors. You’ll be responsible for preparing daily meals according to dietary guidelines, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen, and contributing to a positive dining experience for our residents.
• Prepare and serve meals in accordance with planned menus and resident dietary needs
• Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are met at all times
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and work areas
• Assist with inventory, food storage, and supply rotation
• Collaborate with dietary staff to ensure timely meal service
• Provide friendly and respectful service to residents and staff
• Previous cooking experience in healthcare, hospitality, or institutional setting preferred
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
• Ability to follow recipes and adapt to dietary restrictions
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• ServSafe certification (not required)
