The Columbus Family YMCA has served our community for 133 years. We have experienced much growth and change throughout those years. Our organization made a major change in 2015 when we moved into the brand-new Columbus Wellness Center. We are blessed to have a state-of-the-art facility. The Columbus Fieldhouse opened in January 2024 and expanded our programs and services to over 300,000 square feet. This facility is attached to the Columbus Wellness Center and has opened immense opportunities for community impact. This position is packed with responsibility and challenge. Day-to-day facility operations is the core of this position. A key standard for excellence includes facility readiness, safety and crowd control, all to help our staff sustain strong member relationships. Responsibilities include facility operations, team and contracted partner supervision, and hands on coordination/errands to supply needed resources. You'll work side by side w/a small building supervisory staff for light maintenance and housekeeping. You'll provide the right leadership/involvement for any conflicts, discipline issues, and more. Doing what you can to go the extra mile will ensure that the details – big and small, are well cared for and delivered with pride and precision.

Key deliverables for this position include:

  • Well run and safe facility
  • Awareness and knowledge of all that is going on in the facility
  • Strong leadership, able to get the work done well and plan for the emergencies
  • Seeing, knowing and doing the work that needs to be done

Here is a sampling of the Program responsibilities you would work with in this role:

  • Facility supervision for day-to-day readiness and operational safety
  • Member relationships & crowd and safety management
  • Professionally handle conduct and behavior issues (primarily youth, some adult issues)
  • Lead, manage and supervise a small building staff
  • Lead, manage and supervise Jump Zone staff
  • Point of contact for maintenance and housekeeping staff

What we require and expect:

  • Sufficient experience supervising and managing staff
  • Sufficient experience in facility management
  • Dedication to the role: willing to put in hours as needed: 40-50 hours, plus extra during certain events; Will include evening and weekend hours

  • High integrity coupled with a solid work history is essential
  • Organization and communication skills to be able to manage and lead staff
  • College degree preferred
  • CDL bus driver’s license within the first year in this role
  • First aid and CPR certification within 30 days of hire
  • Bilingual (Spanish) additional benefit

  • Full-time hourly position: $19.23-24.04/hr (experience dependent)
