Job Description

The Fence Installer works as part of the installation crew and is expected to learn all aspects of fence installation, including materials, tools, proper digging methods, construction/yard cleanup, minor landscaping, proper use and care of equipment, safe work methods and precautions, use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and all company policies. The main function of the installer is to provide labor and efficiency to the installation crew.

The installer receives instructions from the Installation Crew Leader and/or management to support the installation of all types of commercial and residential fences for customers in the tri-state area. This instruction may be verbal or written, including job sketches, shop drawings, cut sheets, blueprints, etc. The installer is expected to be able to process these instructions to precisely, as the safety, quality, efficiency, and profitability of each job depends on it. The installer may also receive instructions from management to support other company needs.

The installer must be able to work outdoors, in the heat of summer and the cold of winter. The job location varies, but it is typically at the homes or businesses of customers. As such, an extreme amount of etiquette is expected on the jobsite at all times. The installer may occasionally be expected to work overtime, including weekends, or be required to work remotely at locations that require overnight travel.

The installer will also assist with ongoing continuous improvement efforts by submitting new ideas for truck/yard/shop layout, process flow, best standard practices, etc. Must be a team player, able to work well with others and receive constructive criticism. Must be a self-starter, be able to work independently or as part of a team, without direct supervision when needed. The individual must show that they have integrity, honesty, and the willingness to treat all coworkers with respect.

Basic Requirements:

  • Follow all safety guidelines and safe practices.
  • Ability to wear and work with safety glasses, ear plugs, goggles, gloves, and all other PPE as required.
  • Basic ability to read and write clearly in English.
  • Able to stand/walk, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, and twist for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Excellent attendance history
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
    Follow work instructions to the highest standard of quality.
    Able to read a tape measure, use a level, and work with angles and degrees.
