Overview:
The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment across all company operations. This position plays a key role in promoting a proactive safety culture, conducting job site audits, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other applicable safety regulations.
This is a field-based position that requires approximately 50% travel to multiple project sites and close collaboration with the National Hydro Excavation Services team.
Key Responsibilities:
Foster and maintain a strong culture of safety across all work sites
Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety programs in line with OSHA and other regulatory guidelines
Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and safety meetings to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement
Lead accident investigations and ensure proper documentation and follow-up
Assist in developing Emergency Action Plans and coordinate responses to site incidents
Provide ongoing safety training and presentations for field personnel and management
Offer technical safety support to teams in the field
Maintain accurate records of incidents, training, and compliance documentation
Ensure safety supplies are available and maintained at all job sites
Collaborate with project teams to proactively identify and address potential risks
Qualifications
High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred
5-15 years of experience in construction safety or related field
Recognized as a subject matter expert (SME) in construction safety practices
Strong knowledge of OSHA and other applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations

Experience in Risk Assessment/Management and data analysis
Familiarity with time reporting systems and safety tracking software
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across various media
Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills
Proficient with PC-based applications and quick to learn new software
Self-motivated and capable of working independently and in a team environment
Willingness to travel to job sites regularly (Omaha, Blair, Lincoln, Des Moines)
