Now Hiring: YMCA Swim Team Coach

Do you love the water, enjoy working with kids, and want a job that actually makes a difference? The Columbus YMCA is looking for an energetic, positive, and passionate Swim Team Coach to help our swimmers grow in skill, confidence, and teamwork, both in and out of the pool.

This is more than a coaching job. It is a chance to be a role model, a motivator, and a leader in a program that helps young people build lifelong skills.

What You Will Do

  • Lead fun, challenging, and safe swim practices for all ages and skill levels

  • Teach competitive and recreational swimming techniques and workouts

  • Build a team culture that promotes confidence, sportsmanship, and teamwork

  • Ensure swimmer safety at all practices and meets

  • Enforce YMCA pool rules and safety standards

  • Respond to emergencies and provide first aid when needed

  • Organize and submit meet entries and update swimmer results

  • Coordinate and run one home swim meet each year

  • Communicate with swimmers, parents, and families

  • Work closely with the Aquatic Director and YMCA League

  • Maintain schedules, records, and required paperwork

  • Attend parent meetings, staff meetings, trainings, and league meetings

  • Help manage team equipment and apparel

  • Be a positive, professional presence that kids look up to

What We Are Looking For

  • Must be at least 19 years old

  • Swim background or lifeguarding experience preferred

  • Lifeguard, CPR, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Knowledge of competitive swimming strokes and rules

  • Ability to connect with kids, parents, and staff

  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills

  • A heart for youth development and the YMCA mission
